AMTI Model MC818 Multi-Axis Force Platform

The AMTI Model MC818 Multi-Axis Force Platform is a highly precise, multicomponent six-axis transducer custom-engineered to measure and evaluate complex multidirectional forces and moments within demanding industrial processing and material evaluation environments.

Purpose-built to streamline data acquisition across rigorous testing loops, the long rectangular MC818 architecture utilises a unique four-element strain gauge bridge core to supply up to six independent channels of data output. This advanced design records forces simultaneously across three mutually perpendicular axes (Fx, Fy, and Fz) along with their concurrent moments around those axes (Mx, My, and Mz), completely eliminating zero-point shift variables and exhibiting maximum structural stiffness when mounted. The mechanical body is manufactured from a single piece of high-strength, anodised aluminium alloy that heavily minimises eccentric loading errors and localized cross-channel interference. Delivering an exceptional static accuracy performance with cross-talk kept down to 2% FS or less on all channels, the platform handles standard vertical capacities scaling across three distinct structural envelopes from 1,000 lb to 4,000 lb (4.4 kN to 17.8 kN). Equipped with an IP60 environmental protection rating via specialized internal potting and elastomeric O-ring seals, the platform is designed with a flanged base to facilitate secure T-slot mounting, while offering a working surface outfitted with 41 threaded holes to simplify customer hardware attachment points.

As with all conventional strain gauge transducers bridge excitation and signal amplification are required. AMTI's GEN5 series amplifiers are high-gain devices which provide excitation and amplification for multiple channels in one convenient package. These amplifiers process the signals from a transducer and provide outputs suitable for an AID converter and digital computer or other recording instrument.
